Tradition and Family. That was at the core of Marisa and Greg’s wedding this past June. They both come from large but tight knit families ingrained in traditional Chinese culture. From the moment I walked into Marisa’s parents home in Maryland, I was immediately overwhelmed with the constant buzzing of activity that filled the tiny house. It seemed like toddlers were constantly bouncing off my shins, the smell of home-made Chinese food (including a beautiful whole-roasted pig) that permeated the air in the home nearly knocked me on my feet, and the near constant chatter and laughter was, while at times deafening, also among the most comforting sounds in world.
It’s a unique and profoundly moving privilege to be invited into a stranger’s home to try and assimilate into a family’s culture, especially one as defined as Marisa and Greg’s. As a photographer, you can only hope to come close to capturing what it means to be apart of that culture, especially on what is thus far, the most important day of their lives. I want to thank Greg+Marisa for having me out for their day, and congrats!
